Sound & Fury Morris & Sword have been dancing around Seattle and the rest of the west coast of North America since the waning days of last century (1999 to be specific). These are dance traditions dating back, well, a long time from various regions of England. Sound & Fury is proud to bring them to you, residents of the Pacific Northwest!
Sound & Fury Morris performs Cotswold dances in the traditions of the villages of Bampton, Sherbourne, Longborough as well as the Cathedral City of Lichfield, all in the south of England. We also perform dances in the tradition of Elm City, which is actually New Haven, Connecticut. Rapper Sword dancing is another story, a fast moving swirl of steel and body parts, from the north of England. It's hard to describe, and hard to explain how the dancers retain all of their various and sundry body parts! One important aspect of Morris is that it is a community based folk tradition. Dances are best experienced up close and personal, not in a solemn stage environment. Perhaps you've seen us... or just keep an eye out when you're on the streets (or pubs) of Seattle! Questions? Want us to perform at an event? Want to try it yourself? Send email today soundandfurymorris@yahoo.com.
